Helen Dimos & William Rowe live in Athens, Greece. Their most recent books are, respectively, No Realtor Was Compensated for This Sale (The Elephants, 2016) and Collected Poems (Crater Press, 2016). Poetry & Politics: If the task is to change the world, what does poetry do? What are the forces that keep current realities in place, and how can we think about the ways that poetry can alter these realities? Helen Dimos & William Rowe will briefly read from their own recently published poetry and the poetry of others, and then present some ideas and arguments on the efficacy of poetry in the sphere of the political. The aim of the readings and the statements will be to open up conversation and discussion with everyone. |
